Social Function The social function of descriptive text is to explain something in detail, which can be in the form of animals, inanimate objects, humans, etc. Text Structure 1.  Identification In this section, is in the first paragraph, the purpose is to identify an object that you want to describe. From what i have learned, last week's material we have discussed about Descriptive Text which included: Definition Descriptive Text is a type of text that clearly describes the characteristics of something, such as humans, animals, plants or inanimate objects. The purpose of this text is to provide the reader with clear information about the object being described. There is three lenguage features in descriptive text: 1.
