Descriptive Text

Hello everyone!
Here i will convey what i have understood in the material that Ma'am Yuni has conveyed.

From what i have learned, last week's material we have discussed about Descriptive Text
which included:

Definition

Descriptive Text is a type of text that clearly describes the characteristics of something, such as humans, animals, plants or inanimate objects. The purpose of this text is to provide the reader with clear information about the object being described.

There is three lenguage features in descriptive text:
1. Simple present tense [He, She, It + Verb 1 (s/es)] and [I, you, they, we + Verb 1]
2. Adjective
3. Noun

Structure of Descriptive Text

1. Identification

In this section, is in the first paragraph, the purpose is to identify an object that you want to describe. Identification usually used to introduce to the readers the object that will be explained before we tell in more detail about the object in the next paragraph.

2. Description

In this section, is in the second paragraph and so on, contains the qualities inherent in something that you introduced to the reader in the first paragraph. understand about the topic being described.


Sentence Component

1. Specific participant: it can be something which is not common and usually unique because it is the only one in the world.

2. The use Adjectives: To explain or describe objects, we can use adjectives or adjectives.

3. Simple Present Tense: Using the simple present tense in sentences that express activities or facts that happen in the present. This tense uses only one verb. Describe the facts about an object, and the functions of the simple present tense itself is to tell a fact or truth.

4. The use of Action Verbs: Using a verb that describes an action or activity in the subject of the sentence. Usually this type of verb is used when describing living objects. Examples of action verbs are run, walk, eat, etc.

5. Figurative Language: Using figurative language in the form of metaphors to give an image to the reader.


Identifying Adjective Order
In descriptive text, there is a formula for using adjectives, which is called OSASCOMP:

O = Opinion (Atitude/Observation)
S = Size (Size/Height)
A = Age (How old is it?)
S = Shape (Shape/Weight/Length)
C = Color (Color/Approximate color)
O = Origin (Where is it from?)
M = Material (What is it made of?)
P = Purpose (What is it used for?)
Example:
- This is an empty, large, and old classrom.
Explanation: This is an [empty: opinion], [large: size], and [old: age] [classroom: noun].

Descriptive text using the 5 senses:
1. Sight
2. Smell
3. Hearing
4. Taste
5. Touch

Sentence Structure
Sentence Structure: SVO + Adverb
S= Subject
V= Verb
O= Object
Adverb:
M= Manner
P= Place
T= Time

Transitive and Intransitive
Transitive is a verb that must be followed by a noun, while Intransitive is the opposite, it is a verb that does not need a noun.


Adverb of Manner
Describe how something happens.

Adverb of Place
Describe where something happens.

Adverb of Time
Describe when something happens, how long and how often the action happened.

My New Laptop

The next thing is my new laptop. it is a kind of luxury laptop the brand is Asus Rog GL this is my favorite laptop for gaming. the display is about 15.6 inches full HD and the processor is intel core i7, the memory  8GB DDR4, the operating system is windows 10 home Webcam: 720P HD Web Camera and the weight is about 2.6 kg. the price is quite expensive that is around 15.800.000 thousand rupiah. I bought it when I was in Singapore on my birthday. this gift was given by my beloved mom.
